1. A bracelet that protects you from sharks

Young surfer Nathan Garrison came up with the idea for these wearable bands to protect surfers and swimmers from sharks after his friend was bitten by a shark. It works via a patented shark repellent that uses magnetic fields. cool

2. A peelable alternative to plastic

Kenton Lee created the Shoe That Grows, an adjustable, expandable shoe that can grow five sizes and last up to five years. The best part? He was just a regular guy with an idea, and now he's solved a problem that's helping kids around the world.

4. A device to wash your dog while keeping you dry

Calling all dog lovers! If you've ever wondered how to wash your dog without getting wet, then you're in luck. Ryan Diez, with a little help from his dog, Delilah, invented a portable dog washer that connects to a standard water hose and makes bathing a lot easier. Ryan actually came up with this idea when he was in fourth grade and 22 years later put it into action. A great story of never giving up!

5. A tool to reduce distracted driving

We love our cars and we love our smartphones, but the two don't mix. Learn how this trio of teenage siblings work together to reduce distraction while driving. "The Inventioneers," as they call themselves, have created a device that lights up and beeps when you're driving unsafely (e.g. when you reach into your purse or check your phone). Patent before graduation? Check.

6. Reusable silicone food savers

Time to ditch the plastic wrap! To address the twin problems of food waste and single-use products, Adrienne McNicholas and Michelle Ivankovic invented Food Huggers, reusable silicone food savers that you can squeeze half a lemon, half an onion, or half a tomato into. It wraps around the fruit or vegetable to form a seal and keep it fresh. Inspired!

7. The best water toy ever

Meet Lonnie Johnson, the engineer behind the water toys, to put an end to all water toys. He's a true rocket scientist with over 100 patents who always made time for personal experimentation. He began tinkering with the idea of ​​a water toy that children could manipulate and pressurize, and he developed the legendary Super Soaker. So much fun to see the early prototypes!

8. Canned goods, Kleenex tissues and Silly Putty
