Free reading intervention checklist to keep students on track

This free printable reading intervention checklist can help you ensure each intervention hits all the necessary reading touchpoints. We created this resource in partnership with Voyager Sopris to give teachers a tool that meets children where they are and prepares them for a reading and writing journey.

The checklist is divided into short sections of 5 to 20 minutes to help teachers connect with students quickly and effectively. Each section assesses reading skills such as phonemic awareness, comprehension, and ability readiness.

  1. Organize your lessons around each travel checkpoint.
  2. Make sure you have a timer handy.
  3. Laminate the checklist and use a dry-erase pen to check off each section during the lesson.

Reading intervention time gives children the opportunity to have some much-needed one-on-one time with an adult who cares for them. Aside from the always important structure and practice that an intervention provides, we cannot overlook the value of the time given. The better you can prepare for a short intervention period, the better readers your students will be.
