Tunnel House: Brutalist Design Meets Green Contemporary Charm at this Brazilian Home

Minimalism is an integral part of Brazilian design and an integral part of this narrative. Combining brutalist design with contemporary minimalism and lots of greenery, the tunnel house designed by Consuelo Jorge Arquitetos offers the best of both worlds. The overall design of the home feels simple, clean, and modern, with wooden shutters and blinds protecting the structure from excess sunlight. They also filter sunlight, creating a connection between indoors and outdoors without sacrificing privacy. Step inside and the decor feels as minimalist as the house itself!

It is the entrance tunnel that gives the house its unique look and also gives it its name. The house was designed for a family with two children and the different rooms here are interchangeable if necessary. In addition to the open living plan, the landscape outside plays a decisive role in the cozy look. The house is ready to receive people without losing the coziness that was very important to the residents. The living room is thus the protagonist and connecting element between the rooms. João Armentano was in charge of the interior design project and with great skill he harmonized the architecture with the interior of the residence, creating comfort and cosiness.
