Roof Gardens, Bio-Pond and a World of Inviting Green: Multi-Family Home in Singapore

After living in the concrete jungle most of the time, we get pretty excited every time we see a green oasis being created amidst the urban hustle and bustle. Designed to meet the needs of a modern extended family with siblings who have families of their own ficus house is Singapore is an absolute delight that blows us away with sheer volume and green goodness. Guz Architects created an L-shaped building for the property that is filled with natural goodness, along with a series of bio ponds, natural pools and roof gardens; an environment that combines intelligent privacy with connected public spaces and interactive zones.

The home was built on ‘hereditary property’ that held high sentimental value to the homeowners, so the architects left much of the existing canopy untouched. The focal point is a huge ficus tree, which is particularly dear to the family. Beyond the greenery is a home that is contemporary in every way, with outdoor terraces and multi-level roof gardens that blur the line between indoors and out. Natural beauty outdoors not only improves the aesthetics of the home as it lowers the ambient temperature and keeps out the hot tropical sun.

Wood, metal and glass characterize the house and combine modernity with inviting warmth, even if the orientation of the house and the interior rooms offer separate living and sleeping areas for the three families.
