Designers Christian Di Nicuolo and Simone Dalmaso have come up with an appealing contemporary apartment design during the restoration of an attic in the historic center of the city of Cuneo, Italy. The most important feature of this architectural project is the light distribution. It is just as important to use the available space optimally according to the customer’s wishes.
They created a mezzanine floor in between and this new floor was used to create the bedroom which includes light in the rooms below. Both the kitchen area and the bathroom are neatly positioned behind the kitchen wall. A glass floor allows light to penetrate the floor below, creating the effect of a bed laid on water.
The remarkable staircase and mezzanine are protected by a layered glass balustrade. The staircase has been designed in such a way that it does not disturb the rest too much. The living room is separated from the bathroom by a laundry room with walk-in closet with its particular glass ceiling and iron beams. Completing this attractive little attic is the furnishings, which speak volumes about the eccentricity of the owner. Fancy a nice attic?
